PRC opens application for 2018 Environmental Planner Board Exams

Aspiring environmental planners may now apply for the Environmental Planner Board Exam 2018, which will be held on June 6-7, 2018. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has opened the application starting February 20, 2018 until April 20, 2018. Exam venues include Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Pagadian and Tacloban. Aspiring environmental planners are encouraged to register online through the Professional Regulatory Commission’s website, www.prc-online.com.

The website specifies the required information for the online registration, as follows:

  • Your e-mail address (with password)
  • Your mobile number (ex. 09271234567)
  • Personal data (including date of graduation)
  • ID photo in .jpg format saved on your computer, phone or tablet.
  • Cedula (residence certificate)

Once the website system generates the application form, applicants may print the form and submit the same together with the following documentary requirements, original and photocopies:

  • NSO / PSA Birth Certificate
  • NSO / PSA Marriage Contract (for married female applicants)
  • Transcript of Records with scanned picture and Remarks “For Board Examination Purposes” (First Timer & Repeater)
  • College Diploma
  • Valid NBI Clearance (First Timers & Repeaters)
  • One (1) Certificate of Good Moral Character from any of the following:
    1. Barangay
    2. School
    3. Church
    4. Employer
  • OJT Certificate or in Service-Training signed by the applicant’s immediate supervisor
  • Certificate of Professional Civil Service Eligibility (for incumbent government planners only)
  • Metered Documentary Stamps
  • Four (4) passport size colored pictures with complete name printed
  • Payment: P 900.00

Republic Act 10587, also known as the Environmental Planning Act of 2013, specifies the following basic eligibility requirements:

  1. A citizen of the Philippines or a foreign citizen whose country or state has reciprocity agreement in the practice of the profession.
  2. A holder of any of the following degrees from the duly recognized schools college or universities accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (refer to next section)
  3. Of good moral character; and
  4. Not convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude by a court of competent jurisdiction: Provided that a person failing under this paragraph may be allowed to take the licensure Act examination only within the next ten (10) years after the effectivity of this Act.

Holders of the following degrees are eligible to take the exam.

  • A Master’s degree in Environmental Planning urban/city and regional planning or town and country planning or its equivalent;
  • A Post-Graduate Diploma in environmental planning city and regional planning or its equivalent and with at least one (1) year of on-the-job training as required herein; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning city and regional planning or its equivalent and with at least two (2) year of on-the-job training as required herein;

Non-holders of environmental planning degrees may also apply for the exam provided the following.

  1. A Master’s or Doctorate degree in either architecture engineering ecology economics geography, public administration, business administration, sociology, social science, law environmental science, environmental management development management natural resources planning and development and related disciplines acceptable to the Board and with three (3) years of on-the-job training as required herein: Provided that a person falling under this paragraph may be allowed to take the licensure examination only within the next ten (10 years) after this effectivity of this Act.
  2. A Bachelor’s degree in either architecture engineering ecology economics geography, public administration, business administration, sociology, social science, law environmental science, environmental management development management natural resources planning and development and related disciplines acceptable to the Board and with five (5) years of on-the-job training as required herein: Provided that a person falling under this paragraph may be allowed to take the licensure examination only within the next ten (10 years) after this effectivity of this Act.
  3. Incumbent holders of planning position in the national regional or local government offices or agencies including governed-owned and controlled corporations who have been engaged in development planning functions acceptable to the Board: Provided that they are holders of professional civil service eligibility and they must have undergone at least eighty (80) hours of in-service training or distance learning in developmental planning from a government agency school or institution accredited by proper authorities: Provided further that a person falling under this paragraph may be allowed to take the licensure examination only within the next five (5) years after the effectivity of this Act.
